The Clean Slate Initiative for Texas is dedicated to fostering family reunification and building stronger families of color by offering individuals with criminal records a chance to break free from the barriers of the past and embrace a fresh start. We firmly believe that when justice-involved individuals are provided with opportunities for successful reintegration, families can reunite, heal, and thrive.

For many families of color, the impact of past criminal records can be a significant barrier to reunification and stability. The Clean Slate Initiative recognizes the disproportionate impact of the criminal justice system on communities of color and seeks to address the systemic challenges that have kept families apart.

By advocating for policy reforms that facilitate expungement, record sealing, and fair access to opportunities, we aim to remove the obstacles that hinder family reunification. We understand that the burdens of criminal records can have lasting effects on individuals and their loved ones, and we are committed to promoting policies that promote healing, reconciliation, and the strengthening of family bonds.

Moreover, the Clean Slate Initiative works to empower justice-involved individuals with resources, education, and support services that facilitate their successful reentry into society. By providing job training, housing assistance, mental health support, and other essential resources, we enable individuals to rebuild their lives and become active and contributing members of their families and communities.
